Beware!! – learn the essentials needed for a top quality knife!!

A quality knife should consist of two parts: a separate blade firmly attached to a separate handle. This design allows the blade to be forged from martensitic stainless steel, a special high-carbon steel specifically made for blades, ensuring a superior cutting edge that retains its sharpness for longer.

In contrast, all imported knives today are one-piece or monobloc knives, which have heavy, unbalanced handles and inferior quality blades. Monobloc knife blades are rolled and stamped from the same standard stainless steel as the handles, often 18/10 or more commonly 13/0 steel. This lower grade of stainless steel cannot be sharpened effectively, so manufacturers add a thin serration to the blade, which can only tear the meat apart rather than slicing it cleanly.

Choosing a knife with a separate blade and handle not only provides better balance and control but also ensures that the blade is made from the highest quality steel. This means your knife will stay sharp longer, making dining easier and more enjoyable. Don’t settle for less – invest in a sharp knife that offers precision, durability, and superior performance. Please remember blunt knives can ruin an otherwise memorable meal.

Then, sadly, customers often complain about the quality of a restaurant’s meat instead of recognizing the real culprit – an inferior quality knife.

Many people mistakenly believe that a heavier handled knife is a sign of better quality. In reality, the opposite is true. A properly balanced two-piece knife with a martensitic stainless steel blade set into a hollow 18/10 stainless steel handle is a superior choice.  – see video below:
