The Platinum Jubilee
On 6th February 2022, Her Majesty The late Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. On Monday 13 June, 2022 she also became the 2nd longest serving Monarch in world history having been on the throne for 70 years and 127 days, second only to Louis XIV of France who became king at the age of four in 1643. On the 8th of September 2022 Her Majesty sadly passed away at Balmoral, her beloved home in Scotland.
To celebrate these unprecedented anniversaries; events and initiatives took place throughout the year, until Her Majesty’s death, including amongst many others The Queen’s Green Canopy and the Platinum Pudding competition which all created lasting reminders of this unique Jubilee.
The main celebrations were on the long weekend, 2nd – 5th June 2022, including Trooping the Colour, a service of thanksgiving, a spectacular concert in front of Buckingham Place with a Pageant the following day. Add to this the many special street parties and other events that took place not only throughout the UK, but also across the Commonwealth resulting in a truly successful and memorable occasion. Little did we know then that three short months later Her Majesty would no longer be with us.
To commemorate this extraordinary occasion, we developed an exclusive range of giftware in pewter, silverplate and superior 958 Britannia silver including teaspoons (sold individually or in a set of 4), all manufactured in Sheffield by a team of highly skilled craftsmen. Many are engraved with the special Royal Platinum Jubilee crest and others hallmarked with the special collector’s Platinum Jubilee hallmark authorised by the H.M. The Queen’s Assay Master.
Since The Queen’s passing, we have been asked by customers if they can still purchase pieces from our commemorative Platinum Jubilee range, so we have kept a limited range available on this website alongside the new Coronation range for King Charles III. Obviously as the collector’s special Platinum Jubilee Hallmark is no longer available once these products have been sold, we cannot produce any more, so we do advise you to buy whilst they are still available.
